An update regarding COVID-19

April 3, 2020

Recently, the way we work, care for one another and stay connected has been turned upside down due to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Our team at the League has felt these effects as well.

Even as the world around us changes in unexpected ways, the League’s commitment to Keep Tahoe Blue remains strong. Our operations have been adjusted for safety while we continue working to achieve our goals on schedule.

The League is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, collaborators and supporters.

In light of local shelter-in-place orders, we have closed our office, education center and store. We will continue to accept orders through our online store as usual, though orders will not be shipped until local shelter-in-place orders have been lifted. All League events, including activities surrounding Earth Day, have been cancelled. Similarly, activities for our citizen science programs, including Pipe Keepers, Eyes on the Lake and Tahoe Blue Crews, are suspended until further notice.

Please check in with your League contact for more info.

Our role as a watchdog and voice for the Lake continues, and is more important now than ever. As local and state governments take COVID-19-related emergency action, we’ll be watching closely to ensure important environmental protections stay in place.

We’re keeping people connected to the Lake that we Love by shifting our community engagement activities and volunteer programs online. New social media, email and webinars are on offer to keep members and supporters engaged and acting to Keep Tahoe Blue from home. Our events page is being updated regularly with activities so the public can stay involved. Please check for updates and information on our ongoing work through our website, email and social media. If you don’t already, please like and follow us on TwitterInstagram and Facebook to stay informed, and subscribe to our email list.

Please feel free to send us an email if you have any questions.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone. Together we Keep Tahoe Blue.
