Home Grown Tahoe: High Elevation Edible Gardening in Summer

Join the UC Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe for an essential workshop dedicated to high-elevation gardening in the summertime. In this free class, we will cover how to grow berries, tomatoes, beans, and squash. A limited quantity of starts will be available.

What You’ll Learn

  • Pro tips for cultivating berries, tomatoes, squash, and beans in a short growing season.
  • Managing the intense high-elevation UV rays and keeping your plants hydrated during our dry summer spells.
  • How to attract and keep pollinators in your garden to ensure a heavy fruit set.
  • Techniques to speed up ripening so you can harvest your tomatoes and squash before the first fall frost.

  • Where: Keep Tahoe Blue, The Spurlock/Evers Environment and Education Center, 2877 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

Note:

This is an in-person event. Parking is very limited; allow time to park at the old Denny’s parking lot across the street and walk over via the crosswalks at the traffic light. On-site registration available, space permitting.
