Rosie Hackett
Rosie grew up in the East Coast and has strong New England roots…Go Red Sox! Right after college, she migrated west for big mountains and bluebird powder days. Rosie loves any and all ways she can play in the mountains. She has dedicated the past 30 years to field instruction, curriculum design, environmental stewardship, wilderness expedition guiding, and high-performance coaching, and is a fervent believer in the power of outdoor adventure education to change and enrich lives. Her extensive and varied field experience includes instructing/guiding sailing, sea kayaking, whitewater rafting/kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, avalanche science, and outdoor leadership for schools and organizations all over the world.
Prior to Keep Tahoe Blue, Rosie developed and directed the successful Wilderness Education Program at Lake Tahoe Community College. While growing LTCC’s Wilderness Program from 35 students to 1000 students, she was recruited by Sierra Nevada College to create and direct a four-year Interdisciplinary Degree in Outdoor Adventure Leadership (ODAL). Sound fun? Unapologetically, it was the most fun and most transformational degree offered. After 13 years empowering her SNC students to become “growth” junkies, passionate leaders, competent outdoor professionals, and lifelong environmental stewards, Rosie made her way to The League to Save Lake Tahoe, where she is dedicated to cultivating relationships with local school systems and education coalitions, public agencies, and nonprofit partners to advance learning and stewardship throughout the Tahoe Basin and beyond.
On her days off, Rosie can usually be found skiing, biking, foiling, or watching soccer with her husband, Bret, her two children, Ruby and Van, and her dog, Tommy, near her home in South Lake Tahoe or in a faraway place
