Belén de Schutter

Community Liaison North Shore

As the North Shore Community Liaison, Belén helps bridge Keep Tahoe Blue’s conservation efforts across the Basin by connecting residents, businesses, and visitors to the Keep Tahoe Blue’s core programs. She is focused on expanding program access within the Truckee and North Shore communities through hands-on stewardship, including citizen science and litter prevention initiatives. Through these efforts, she works to cultivate a culture of environmental responsibility that empowers the local community to actively participate in the long-term health of the Lake.

Prior to joining the Keep Tahoe Blue, Belén worked with the Town of Truckee’s Keep Truckee Green division, where she helped implement the town’s recycling, energy, and solid waste initiatives. As a resident of the North Shore, she is excited to bridge local community goals with broader Lake Tahoe conservation efforts to ensure the region’s natural beauty is preserved for years to come. Belén is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, where she earned her degree in Natural Resource Conservation.

Having grown up in the Bay Area, lived for years in Canada and the Netherlands, and traveled across South America, she has always valued a close proximity to mountains and oceans and is passionate about connecting people to global conservation efforts. Belén moved to Lake Tahoe in 2024 from Vancouver and enjoys skiing, trail running, testing new recipes, and spending time across Lake Tahoe’s beautiful beaches.
