Engagement Intern

Anna supports citizen science programs and community engagement through initiatives such as Eyes on the Lake, as well as other volunteer and outreach events.

Anna is a recent graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO), where she earned a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection with a concentration in Wildlife Biology and a minor in Spanish. She has experience working as a Science Team Lead and outreach educator for several marine conservation nonprofits, supporting sea otter, elephant seal, and clam conservation efforts. Through these roles, she focused on community engagement and environmental education, leading classroom lessons, field activities, and public outreach events.

Anna also has a background in environmental research, with a focus on the population health and dynamics of numerous marine and freshwater species along California’s Central Coast. She feels deeply connected to California’s ecosystems and wildlife and is passionate about making science accessible to everyone. Additionally, she has experience in research and advocacy aimed at preventing the biomagnification of toxins within ecosystems. She led Cal Poly’s rodenticide mapping initiative, analyzing trends in rodenticide biomagnification along the Central Coast and advocating for more sustainable practices.

Although she was born in the Bay Area, Anna has deep family roots in the Truckee region. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming, skiing, backpacking, and birding.
