TAHOE CITY, Calif. (KCRA) — Keep Tahoe Blue hosted a Labor Day trash cleanup in Tahoe City on Monday, picking up 224 pounds of garbage along six miles of shoreline.

More than 70 volunteers took part in the four-hour event at Commons Beach, Skylandia Beach and along the Lower Truckee River.

In the piles of litter were 2,064 cigarette butts and 1,520 plastic straws, according to the nonprofit.
