Celebrate Earth Week with South Tahoe Events

South Lake Tahoe, CA (April 16, 2024) — At Lake Tahoe, every day is Earth Day. But the energy is even higher during Earth Week, April 22 – April 28. A range of fun, family-friendly, stewardship-focused events will occur throughout the week on Tahoe’s South Shore. All are invited to attend and celebrate this special planet we call home.


EARTH DAY COMMUNITY CLEANUP

WHEN
Monday, April 22 | 8:00 a.m. – noon

WHERE
Check-in: Azul Latin Kitchen @ Heavenly Village | 1001 Heavenly Village Way, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
Cleanup activities: Around the South Lake Tahoe/Stateline tourist core

WHAT
As spring rolls in, melting snow reveals a winter’s worth of litter. Unless the trash is removed, it will end up in Lake Tahoe’s beautiful blue waters. The League to Save Lake Tahoe is hosting this opportunity to celebrate Earth Day by pitching in for a morning of TLC for Lake Tahoe and the planet. The event is followed by a complimentary lunch for participants.

WILD AND SCENIC FILM FESTIVAL & SPRING BOUNTY DINNER

Monday, April 22 | Dinner @ 5:00 p.m., Film Festival @ 7:00 p.m.

WHERE
Valhalla Tahoe | 1 Valhalla Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

WHAT
Hosted by the Sierra Nevada Alliance, this festival combines award-winning environmental and adventure films with the energy of local activism. Each year, films are chosen to inspire viewers to take action on issues impacting our environment, ourselves and the world. The festival is preceded by a fundraiser dinner complete with live music, silent auction, Earth Day Fair, and a gourmet, locally sourced meal.

SOUTH TAHOE EARTH DAY FESTIVAL

Saturday, April 27 | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00p.m.

Lake Tahoe Community College | 1 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

WHAT
The festival is a family-friendly, volunteer run, non-profit event to recognize, celebrate and promote the region’s unique beauty and to educate the public how to preserve and protect our local and global natural resources.

The Tahoe Earth Day Foundation, a non-profit organization, formed to educate the general public regarding the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region’s unique beauty and how to preserve and protect it. The means of providing such education include, but are not limited to, regional Earth Day festivals that include environmental and educational booths with focus areas on watershed health, forest health, water conservation, pollution prevention, alternative energy and waste management.
