Keep Tahoe℠

Our work to keep this special place enjoyable for all.

How we Keep Tahoe℠

Lake Tahoe has been loved by generations of nature enthusiasts and adventure-seekers. But with 17 million visits each year, we must make sure that Tahoe doesn’t get loved to death. The Lake might look pristine, but there’s a lot happening below the surface.

If we lose the clear water of Tahoe, we lose everything we love about it. So, we work each day for Tahoe, to keep it swimmable, hikeable, skiable, and enjoyable for all, now, and for generations to come.

Advocacy that protects Tahoe’s future

As an advocacy organization, we work with elected officials, agencies, and decision-makers to secure funding, shape policy, and advance protections that defend Lake Tahoe’s environment. From water quality to restoration funding to environmental safeguards, strong advocacy helps protect the Lake far beyond what any one person can do alone.

Education that builds the next generation of stewards

Through our Keep Tahoe Blue Schools program and our Spurlock/Evers Environment & Education Center, students learn what makes Tahoe special, what threatens it, and how they can help protect it.

Our place-based environmental education reaches local and visiting students through hands-on lessons outdoors, in classrooms, and at the Education Center, creating the next generation of Tahoe stewards.

Building a community rooted in responsibility

Protecting Tahoe is not a single choice. It is daily work, a long-term commitment, and shared responsibility. It means supporting the work, policies, and education that keep this special place healthy, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.
