Keep Tahoe Blue Internship Program

Interns learn alongside staff experts, explore real-world nonprofit work, and build skills that support the long-term protection of Lake Tahoe.

Developing emerging environmental leaders through hands-on, Lake-saving work.

Mission-driven work that preserves Lake Tahoe for future generations

A Keep Tahoe Blue internship is more than a seasonal role. Interns step into the work of protecting Lake Tahoe, learning from expert staff across the organization while supporting current projects that connect the Natural Resources, Policy, Sustainable Recreation, Communications, and Community Engagement departments.

The program is designed for current students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals interested in environmental protection, nonprofit work, public service, and Lake Tahoe’s future. Interns gain hands-on experience in the field, out in the community, and at Keep Tahoe Blue’s office while building skills they can carry into future careers.

How Interns Fit Into Keep Tahoe Blue’s Mission

Keep Tahoe Blue’s work is guided by our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan‘s four campaigns:

  • Climate Resilience
  • Sustainable Recreation, Transportation, & Development
  • Water Quality & Clarity
  • Conservation Across Borders

Interns see these campaigns in action through fieldwork, outreach, policy support, public education, events, communications, and community engagement. Their projects help connect big-picture goals to the day-to-day work it takes to protect Lake Tahoe.
