Get a Blueprint for a Successful High-Elevation Harvest

Join the UC Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe for an intensive, 90-minute workshop designed to give you the blueprint for a successful high-elevation harvest. Whether you are a first-time gardener or looking to refine your mountain green thumb, this class covers the essential “Tahoe-specific” skills you need to thrive. Bring seeds to share for a seed swap!

What We’ll Cover:

  • The Foundation: Soil preparation, organic fertilizing, and techniques to protect our local watershed.
  • The Toolbox: Essential gardening tools and the importance of record-keeping in a short season.
  • The Tahoe Palette: Which edible varieties do well at our altitude.
  • Beat the Frost: Master seed starting, the “hardening off” process, and techniques such as using cold frames and greenhouses to stretch your season.
  • The Maintenance: Efficient irrigation strategies and managing pests without harming the ecosystem.

Seeds to share for our free seed swap (optional)

Parking is very limited; allow time to park at the old Denny’s parking lot across the street and walk over via the crosswalks at the traffic light. Onsite registration available space permitting.
