The People Leading Tahoe Forward |

Every solution at Lake Tahoe begins with someone who chooses to act. From volunteers leading student tours through our Spurlock/Evers Environment & Education Center to Tahoe Blue Crews picking up litter in the snow, people power Keep Tahoe Blue's work. The Lake stays protected because individuals show up, season after season.
As we spotlight those leading by example, we're also building our summer team. We've received more than 100 intern applications, but two seasonal Community Programs roles remain open: Engagement Associate and Sustainable Recreation Associate. These positions help educate visitors and advance responsible recreation during the peak season. Applications close March 4.

From Tahoe to Chile: Conservation Across Borders |
| |
On March 6 in San Francisco, Keep Tahoe Blue and our sister nonprofit Chile Lagos Limpios will participate in a rare panel on global environmental leadership.
For nearly 70 years, Keep Tahoe Blue has refined a science-driven model for protecting Lake Tahoe. That approach extends beyond the Basin, shaping partnerships in Southern Chile and pushing conservation across borders.
This conversation will show how nonprofit leadership can scale local solutions to global impact. We invite you to join us. |

✨ The Heart Behind Keep Tahoe Blue ✨ |
| |
|
For nearly four decades, Joanne has poured her passion into protecting the Lake she fell in love with back in 1978. One of her favorite ways to give back is by leading educational tours for middle school students at our Spurlock/Evers Environment & Education Center in South Lake Tahoe, where she helps inspire the next generation of Lake protectors.
She also shows up for every beach cleanup and forest restoration event throughout the year. Her selflessness is an example that encourages both residents and visitors to do their part to keep Tahoe healthy and beautiful. Learn all the ways you can follow Joanne's lead. |

Tahoe Blue Crew Leader Spotlight |
|
|
What does 25 years of loving Lake Tahoe look like? It looks like Samia. Tahoe has been her reliable place to recharge, whether hiking, skiing, walking, or simply soaking in the serenity from her deck. “It’s truly my happy place.” After retiring in 2019, Samia wanted a meaningful way to give back. She and her husband Scott started their own Tahoe Blue Crew, adopting the Taylor Creek Sno-Park and the area behind South Tahoe’s Goodwill. The Sno-Park surprised them most. Each winter, trash piles up, from plastic glove hangers to even a car bumper. In town, cigarette butts are the most common item. |
|
Her message is simple: pack out what you pack in. If we each do our part, Tahoe's beauty will last for generations. Thank you, Samia and Scott, for leading by example. |

Meet our Staff Operations Manager: Greg Stephenson
|
| |
As Staff Operations Manager, Greg Stephenson is the calm, steady presence keeping everything moving forward at Keep Tahoe Blue headquarters—from onboarding new staff and solving tech hiccups to guiding long-term operations strategy. |
|
Greg joined the team with 17+ years of operations management experience in the hotel industry, bringing deep expertise in staff leadership, budgets, logistics, and training. He holds a degree in International Politics from California State University, Chico, and speaks both Spanish and German.
Greg moved to Lake Tahoe in 2015 and lives his commitment to his home every single day. He enjoys walking to work—yes, even in three feet of snow. When he’s off the clock, you’ll find him kayaking year-round, exploring the forest, or out on his boat.
We’re grateful for Greg’s leadership, dedication, and the calm, thoughtful way he supports our entire team every day. |
