Keep Tahoe Blue’s work starts with science and the experts who share it. This fall, our staff represented Tahoe on the national stage, showing how innovation and collaboration protect the Lake.
At the GWS ParkForum in Montana, Marilee Movius presented results from our summer signage study, developed with the Connected Communities Collaboration. Her session showed how smarter communication protects recreation areas while keeping the visitor experience enjoyable.
At the North American Invasive Species Management Association conference, Laura Patten, Courtney Baumann, and Jesse Patterson demonstrated how Tahoe is advancing Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) prevention. They introduced conservation leaders to Pixie Drone, Collec’Thor, and other tools that are changing how aquatic weeds are contained.
Then they brought the learning to life with a field tour of the Tahoe Keys Marina and boat decontamination station. Participants saw how science, policy, and on-the-ground partnerships come together to prevent aquatic invasive species, such as golden mussels, from reaching the Lake. Tahoe is leading with innovation, and our team is showing others what is possible.
Every time our experts share their knowledge, they strengthen Tahoe’s global impact and inspire others with our science-to-solutions model. |

This month, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the people behind the Keep Tahoe Blue mission — the staff, volunteers, and supporters who make Tahoe protection possible. |

Meet a few of our newest faces: -
Katie Craven, our Merchandise Program Manager, brings years of retail experience from Patagonia and Stio to ensure every piece of Keep Tahoe Blue gear supports sustainability and style. She’s rethinking how every purchase protects Tahoe.
-
Rosie Hackett, our new Education Manager, brings 30 years of wilderness and outdoor education experience to connect students and visitors with Tahoe’s ecosystems through the Keep Tahoe Blue Schools program and the new Spurlock/Evers Environment & Education Center.

|
-
Katy Jo, our Digital Engagement Coordinator, blends 15 years of outdoor photography and creative storytelling to inspire responsible recreation and connect our community through digital platforms.
-
Grace Smith, our Philanthropy Operations Coordinator, keeps donor systems running smoothly, turning every gift, big or small, into lasting impact for the Lake.
|
Our volunteers are the heart of Keep Tahoe Blue. Whether someone joins us for one cleanup or leads a Blue Crew year-round, every act of service shows love for the Lake and helps protect Tahoe for future generations.
We recently gathered for our Volunteer Appreciation Party to honor each person who gives their time, energy, and passion to Keep Tahoe Blue. Their dedication creates a community of stewards who stand up for the Lake every day. |
