STEPPING UP FOR TAHOE

Summer recreation done right in Lake Tahoe starts with how you show up.

Whether you're heading out on the trail with your dog or packing for a beach day, the small choices you make before leaving home matter. A little planning can mean less waste, fewer impacts on the Lake, and a better day outside enjoying Tahoe's beauty.

This month, we're highlighting two partners helping people enjoy Tahoe more responsibly. Wilderdog brings trail-ready gear for pups and their people. Nomadix offers durable beach essentials made with recycled materials. Together with trash bags, reusables, and a plan to pack out what you pack in, these tools make sustainable recreation easier.

Good Tahoe stewardship is simple. Clean, Drain, Dry your gear before it touches the water to help stop golden mussels, an invasive species that could turn Tahoe's blue water to a murky green. Choose reusables over single-use plastics, pick up after your dog, and leave Tahoe better than you found it. And don't forget to embrace the pace, slow down, and enjoy this special place.

WILDERDOG

Keep Tahoe Blue X Wilderdog

A good Tahoe trail day frequently includes a four-legged friend.

Wilderdog is a Tahoe Blue Business with roots close to the Lake. Although the company now reaches dog lovers nationwide, its founder lives in Meyers on the South Shore, and the idea for Wilderdog hatched on the Tahoe Rim Trail. That local connection shows in gear built for dogs who love long hikes, lake days, and mountain life.

Keep Tahoe Blue is excited to partner with Wilderdog on the limited-edition Keep Tahoe Blue x Wilderdog Cooling Bandana, made for pups exploring Lake Tahoe. Even better, 5% of every purchase from the Keep Tahoe Blue collaboration goes directly to support work that protects the Lake.

Wilderdog also gives back through its Purchase for a Pup program, which helps provide gear to shelter dogs waiting for their forever homes. Together, we're planning pet-waste education and a dog-friendly cleanup later this summer.

Join us for the Tahoe Trails & Tails Cleanup on Wednesday, August 26, from 11 am to 2 pm along the Lam Watah Nature Trail to Nevada Beach.

NOMADIX

The smaller your impact, the better your beach day.

Nomadix creates towels and gear made with post-consumer recycled materials, turning plastic waste into durable products built for beaches, camping, travel, and everyday time outside. The company is also a 1% for the Planet member, donating 1% of sales to environmental causes.

That approach fits perfectly with the Tahoe stewardship mindset. What you pack shapes what you leave behind. A durable towel, a reusable water bottle, and a trash bag can help keep single-use items out of your beach bag and away from the shoreline.

That is why the Keep Tahoe Blue store carries a curated selection of Nomadix products. The collection gives Tahoe beachgoers another practical way to choose reusable gear, reduce waste, and support work that protects the Lake.

Nomadix

Reusable gear helps reduce what you leave behind. For anything that touches the water, there's one more step: Clean, Drain, and Dry before it enters Lake Tahoe.

Together, what you pack in your beach bag and this simple golden mussel prevention habit help protect the Lake before your beach day begins.
