We’re proud to share the League’s 2025–2029 Strategic Plan — a roadmap for protecting Tahoe now and for generations to come. Built on 68 years of progress and shaped by input from more than 700 Tahoe voices, the plan outlines bold goals to keep the Lake blue, clear, and resilient in the face of growing threats. Over the next five years, we will work to achieve bold Visions for 2030 that: - PROTECT Tahoe from aquatic invasive species.
-
MAKE the Tahoe Basin a global model for climate resilience.
- ENABLE everyone to protect, restore, and sustainably enjoy the Lake’s exceptional water quality and clarity.
-
SAFEGUARD Tahoe from threats beyond the Basin.
To realize these visions and overcome the intensifying threats to Tahoe, we need to think, plan, and act Bigger than Tahoe — and thanks to your continued support, that is exactly what our team of experts are doing. We invite you to explore the plan. |

Federal Land Sale Proposal
Raises Concerns for Tahoe |
|
|
In recent days, a proposal in the federal budget reconciliation bill would have allowed federal public lands in the Tahoe Basin to be sold without local input or Tribal consultation. Thanks to people like you who spoke out against the dangers of selling off treasured outdoor spaces, a new version of the proposal took US Forest Service lands off the table, which means Tahoe will not be for sale.
However, critical federal resources needed to manage and protect public lands in Tahoe are still under threat. So, we’re still fighting for Tahoe. We'll continue to work with our delegation to voice our urgent concerns about the wide-reaching consequences of this bill. Our goals are to ensure public lands stay public, safeguard the resources to protect them, and Keep Tahoe Blue. We’ll keep you updated as this issue develops. Tahoe belongs to us all, and we intend to keep it that way. |

The People Behind the Mission |

Meet Core Volunteer: Jeannette Mori |
Jeanette Mori joined the League’s volunteer ranks in 2023 and quickly became a familiar, energizing presence. In just over a year, she logged 140 volunteer hours across nearly every program — from leading her Tahoe Blue Crew to supporting the League’s store.
Her favorite events? Tahoe Forest Stewardship Days and Snapshot Day. She finds that they're perfect opportunities to get her hands dirty, work in teams, and contribute real data to protect the Lake. Jeanette’s love for Tahoe shines through every time she shows up. “Enjoy all the Lake has to offer,” she says, “but be mindful of the environment. Respect it and treat it like your child.” Volunteers like Jeanette are the heart of the Keep Tahoe Blue community. Her dedication reminds us of what’s possible when passion meets purpose. |

She leads efforts to manage aquatic invasive species and boost Tahoe’s natural climate resilience by advancing adaptation and restoration projects across streams, meadows, and sensitive lands.
Before joining us in 2021, Laura directed water and land conservation at the Walker Basin Conservancy, supported federal natural resource planning efforts across the West, and worked with the National Park Service in Yosemite. She holds a Master of Environmental Law and Policy degree from Vermont Law School and a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College. When she’s not leading critical conservation work, you can find her skiing, climbing, backpacking, or biking in the Sierra.
