MEDIA ADVISORY: 19th Annual Snapshot Day to be held on May 18th

Citizen-science event monitors Tahoe’s watershed health

Who: Citizen-scientist volunteers. The South Lake Tahoe portion of the event is put on by the League to Save Lake Tahoe.

What: Snapshot Day is one of the longest-running watershed monitoring events on the West Coast of the United States, and is now in its 19th year.  This May hundreds of volunteers will disperse to collect data about the health of streams and lakes in the Tahoe-Truckee watershed, which includes Lake Tahoe.

Where: Meet at Lake Tahoe Community College, South Lake Tahoe, CA

When: Saturday, May 18th from 9 am to noon.

Why: To collect data and create a “snapshot” in time of the Tahoe-Truckee watershed health, and to build upon collective scientific knowledge of the watershed over time.
