Legal and Policy Director
Marissa leads the League’s implementation of targeted campaigns and programs to protect, restore and advocate for the health of the Lake Tahoe Basin. She develops strategies for the protection of Lake Tahoe’s clarity and water quality, conducts environmental analysis and research on threats to the Lake, and manages the League’s federal, state and local advocacy efforts.
As the League’s legal and policy director, Marissa brings extensive legal and nonprofit expertise. Most recently having served as executive director for Oceans Forward, she has provided policy analysis and legal counsel in both private practice and for conservation nonprofits such as the Surfrider Foundation. Marissa holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law.
Marissa is passionate about conservation and protecting the world’s most special places. She enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking and yoga. She joined the League staff in 2016.
