Jesse Patterson

Chief Strategy Officer

Jesse supports the chief executive officer and the executive team in developing and implementing strategies to protect and restore Lake Tahoe. He designs and manages the League’s campaigns to Keep Tahoe Blue through advocacy, education, collaboration and communication. Jesse serves a primary spokesperson for the League to the media, public officials, and with our partner agencies. He is responsible for ensuring the integration of the best available science in the League’s campaigns and strategies.

Jesse joined the League in 2012 after working for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, a federally recognized Indian Tribe, where he was responsible for directing their natural resource, alternative fuels, solid waste and education/outreach programs. His prior experience includes a stint with the California Coastal Commission as a district enforcement officer and assistant biologist and six years as a marine biologist for an interdisciplinary research lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Jesse received his Master of Environmental Science and Management from the Donald Bren School at UCSB and a Bachelor of Science in aquatic biology from UCSB.

The common link for all of Jesse’s work has been the application of science in policy, decision making and community-wide change for betterment of the environment and people. When not working, Jesse enjoys surfing, SCUBA diving, hiking, mountain biking and snowboarding. Tahoe has been a lifelong destination of Jesse’s for summer backpacking trips in Desolation Wilderness to snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter.
