There have been several extensive restoration projects completed in the Upper Truckee River Watershed. Wetland areas near Tahoe Keys were cleared of fill deposition and returned to a natural state. Other SEZs (stream environment zones) and meadow areas have been restored, adding significant recreational and habitat benefits to the watershed.
There are many current projects in the Upper Truckee River Watershed to seek to improve air and water quality, erosion control, wildlife habitat, and recreation and public access opportunities. Projects are being planned or implemented for bike paths and roadways, urban areas, and in stream zone environments and sensitive wetlands areas throughout the watershed.
