Melissa Thaw
Associate Program Advocate

Melissa was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe where she gained an appreciation for the tremendous natural beauty of the environment around her. She graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies. While participating in an overseas program in China, the importance of environmental conservation, especially the preservation of world treasures like Lake Tahoe, became very clear to her. Returning to her roots in Lake Tahoe, Melissa has volunteered as a water quality monitor in Lake Tahoe as well as returned to school to take additional math and science classes. In 2009, she won two academic awards in math and physics. She has also worked on Lake Tahoe clarity and global climate change research at Desert Research Institute, and previously worked for the League as the Program Filing and Research Coordinator.
